This site is a tribute to Ben. He is much loved and will always be remembered.

For over 40 years Ben cruised just about every inland waterway there was to cruise in England and Wales. In September 2006, Ben embarked on his last major cruising challenge, the newly reopened circular waterway around Manchester, the South Pennine Ring.  This cruise was particularly poignant for Ben and his family as he dedicated it to raising awareness of the charity C-R-Y (Cardiac Risk in the Young) in memory of his granddaughter Amy.  Donations may be made in memory of Ben for C-R-Y.

The Inland Waterways Association has kindly published a tribute to Ben and his contribution to the development and restoration of the Inland Waterways.  The tribute was written by Ben's friend John Fletcher with Neil Edwards, former CEO of the IWA, and contributions from others.
